Specialized Training
I completed the 2 Day Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders: Components of Care and the Advanced Psychotherapy trainings sponsored by Postpartum Support International and am pursuing Perinatal Mental Health Certification.
I have also received training in the following therapy modalities: Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for post traumatic stress, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for depression and anxiety, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
Experience
Following graduation with my Ph.D., I worked with Veterans at the Lee County VA Healthcare Center in the areas of General Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and Primary Care-Mental Health Integration.
I completed my predoctoral internship at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida where I received specialized training in working with clients with complex trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
My clinical practica experiences during my doctoral studies at the University of Florida were diverse and included college counseling, community outpatient mental health, women’s primary care-mental health integration, and inpatient mental health.
Prior to my doctoral studies, I pursued a Master’s in Social Work at Florida International University with a strong clinical emphasis on working with individuals who experienced intimate partner violence and individuals being treated in an inpatient crisis and stabilization unit at a local community hospital.
